Park Lake, Take 2

June 23rd, 2013

Our second adventure to Park Lake!
Nana and Papa came with us this time (Papa was helping Fishy with ceiling fans and TV mounts).  Nana, Mama and Carla went out on the boat and had a picnic:)

Ollie got to launch a butterfly that escaped its chrysalis while we were there and had a little dance party, too!  He loved picking LOTS of strawberries this time!

Here are the pictures:

(FYI if you double click on one, it will bring it up in a gallery style so you can see them bigger)

Shot Skip Day

June 20th, 2013

Ollie and I one week before starting ACTH
Ollie now- 8 weeks into ACTH therapy
Today was Oliver's first day with out at least one shot since he began ACTH therapy on April 24th of this year.  I made brownies to celebrate (I was going to make a cake and decorate it like a band-aid. However, the 360mg of sodium per small piece deterred me.  The brownie mix only had about 20mg in each very small piece.)  Trust me when I tell you, Oliver was THRILLED to eat a brownie instead of getting his shot.  He kept saying "no more tot, no more tot".

At Mimi's
You can see Gigi's toes and Baylee, too!
For more celebration, Taylor took Ollie to visit Mimi's house.  He convinced Mimi to swim with him.  Not any easy task:)  After the pool, Mimi watched Ollie so Taylor and Gigi could go get pedicures.  After the pedi's, they all just hung out and played with Daddy's old toys.

When Taylor and Oliver got home, they played outside.  Ollie discovered today that Nana's geraniums will leave color on the deck when he rubs them hard enough.  Oh boy!  Oliver LOVED it!  Taylor also said that Ollie carried his teddy bear around with him everywhere today.  He found it in the bottom of my nightstand, which houses various toys and books for Oliver.  Until today, he hadn't touched the stuff in months.

June 19th- not just any date

JUNE 19th, 2013

MIMI and PAPA's 39th anniversary!  We are so thankful to have them in our lives.  They are a great example of love, friendship and parenthood.  Congrats Chris and Ernie.  We love you!!!  Oliver called MIMI and told her "hapee naniversry"

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful.  Oliver did have a visit from a speech pathologist- FINALLY!  Her name is Cara and my Aunt Carla knows her.  Cara works in a school system, so usually with older kids, but she agreed to take a listen and give her opinion.  Cara really felt like Oliver was on-target for his age, but she did notice the slurring we mentioned.  She gave us some ideas to use until our Early On eval (scheduled for 6/29).

Daddy snuck Oliver out of the house and took him to the driving range again.  Ollie really is good and anytime people are around (not usually too many in the middle of the day) they stop to watch and comment.  It is fun for daddy and son to have a common talent:)
