Memorable Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend

May 25/26th, 2013

Well, another week has passed.
The biggest happening on Saturday was Oliver using an article in his speech...instead of "I see pillow"  he said, " I see A pillow".  See...I knew you'd be excited:)  Ollie's PT, Laura, confirmed she is moving down to one day/week.  Since he's recovered, his skill level puts him above average for his age and she cannot justify coming more frequently.  YAY OLLIE!

I let Ollie be in control of bedtime tonight....let's just say it took longer than normal.  He had me read him EVERY book in his downstairs stash- probably 20 books!  Needless to say, I took some creative license with the words and shortened up the stories.  He still squeezed me for at least an extra half hour before finally going to bed.

Nana and Papa stayed with the sleeping prince so Taylor and I could go on a late-night date.  (wow....we are so OLD...it was only 8:30 when we left for dinner)  We grabbed dinner at Mi Zarape (my fav) and then saw Fast and Furious 6.  We hadn't been to the movies together since before Oliver was born- maybe longer.  Thankfully Taylor picked an awesome movie and we definitely enjoyed it!

On Sunday, my parents were headed to Grand Rapids for my cousin's wedding shower, so Oliver and I took our early morning time and crafted.  I made a little present for Travis and Kristen while Ollie played with stickers and markers.  He was LOVING working on mommy's desk.  One moment I turned to pull something else out and in the next, Ollie was sitting ON my desk.  Silly monkey.  Shortly after we finished our projects, Mimi came!

Taylor and I went to church and when we came home, Tay went golfing while I made Tortilla Soup.  Mimi played with Ollie all day long, they "colored" on the dry erase board, did puzzles, read books and on and on!  He also really loved the new presents Mimi brought- a recorder and harmonica.  Ollie knew just what to do and really had fun.  She also brought him a little car.  When he saw it, he said "doctor?" It only took Taylor a minute to realize that they have the same car in the waiting room of the infusion clinic.  His mind is like a steel trap.  NOTHING gets by him.

(This reminds me of my grandpa Jim playing the harmonica when I was a kid....only, he actually knew how to play songs that someone else wrote.  Ollie is "self published"  :)
